Best Children’s Birthday Party Ever!! ~Review~
Over here at Lindsay’s Tea Party, you know how we love to Par-tay! Even more so, we love when we find a fun and unique way to celebrate our children’s birthdays! Of course, the old-fashioned picnic BBQ is always a hit, but when your child has done that year-after-year, why not mix it up a bit and head on down to the fabulous Corvette Diner for some 50’s diner fun in Pt. Loma’s Liberty Station location!
The decades collide at Corvette Diner where ‘50s style comfort food meets Rock & Roll, gaming and entertainment. The Cohn Restaurant Group opened the original location of Corvette Diner in Hillcrest in 1987 where it served as a local institution for nearly 22 years before relocating into a new 13,300 square-foot historical building in Liberty Station, the former Naval Training Center in 2009. The destination restaurant features seating for over 240 guests in its three distinct dining areas including the Dining Car; a simulated train car that loops old Elvis and Marilyn Monroe movies, the Groovy Room; a glow-in-the-dark ‘60s throwback room, and the Regal Room; a main dining room showcasing a 1958 Regal Turquoise Corvette. Two themed private party rooms seat an additional 100 guests.
My children love how the waiters and waitresses are all dressed in costume and are playing up the role the entire time they take your order! There is also a fun balloon animals that are made by a friendly face that comes around to each table (tips are appreciated).
As a nod to nostalgic ‘50s joints, the restaurant’s hostesses don poodle skirts and the servers wear ‘50s period uniforms and flaunt bouffant ‘dos in character as they serve up traditional diner dishes mingled with modern classics. It’s loud and the kids can get up and dance with the waiters and waitresses right next to your table!
Favorites include the Rory Burger, which is a take on Elvis’ favorite peanut butter bacon sandwich, as well as a 15 ingredient Meat Loaf. With 25 different malt and shake varieties, guests can take their pick of flavors such as Chocolate Mint Patti and Banana-Rama to name a few. Disc Jockeys, Balloon artists, magicians and live entertainment frequent the diner on a weekly basis but the main entertainment draw for kids and grownups alike is the 5,000 square-foot Gamers Garage. My kids loved the milkshakes especially, and try ordering a classic “root beer float”, wait till you see what arrives!!
The waitstaff loves to make your birthday child feel special! Just look at how they decorated my daughter for her special day!! 🙂
Not your typical “arcade”, the Gamers Garage has over 50 games including everything from the latest high-tech simulators to interactive pinball throwbacks. Corvette Diner has garnered accolades such as the Gold Medallion Award for Best Burger, Best Kid-Friendly Restaurant by San Diego Union Tribune and Best Dining by San Diego Magazine among others. The kids and actually the entire family can play for hours in this fun game lounge. My kids loved earning “virtual tickets” and choosing a special prize afterwards!
Private party packages are available in the venue’s two private dining rooms with a variety of themes available including “Arcade Mania,” music, dancing, limos and more. Please call (619)-542-1476 or visit www.dinecrg.com for hours of operation or for further information. Corvette Diner is located at 2965 Historic Decatur Road and is open seven days a week.

The Brew Story and visit on Facebook!
Owl’s Brew was founded by tea-drinking boozers (always in moderation).
We were looking for a sipper that was lighter, fresher, funner. We were tired of our go-to vodka cran. While an easy bar-call, there was too much sugar, and a serious lack of hydration. We tried the old fashioned cocktails: Manhattan, Negroni, Tom Collins. While we felt very “Mad Men” ordering, one clunky cocktail was plenty and we’re round two kind of gals…
It didn’t take us long to think of a product that offered endless flavors, that was light and fresh – our favorite non-boozy sipper – tea!
Our first brew was simple – we switched out cranberry juice for cranberry tisane…our second step was to sub rooibos for sweet vermouth… yum. Steps 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 were not quite as simple, but we won’t bore you with those details. If you are reading this, you are looking at the final product.
Owl’s Brew is a tea crafted for cocktails and our favorite way to Drink Wise. Now it’s your turn to try these yummy drinks!
