Lindsay’s Tea Party is all about family-friendly fun! And this Spring Break we were invited to the new Lakehouse Hotel & Resort for some fun in the sun!
Step Away from the Everyday.
For us it was all about the stay-cation this Easter break and we were thrilled to find this fabulous new resort that met all our needs for an action-packed and also restful stay!
We did our research before we came and this is what we learned:
*In 2014, the Lakehouse Hotel & Resort was named one of the top 25 hotels to stay at by Trip Advisor!
*The brand new Lakehouse Hotel and Resort offers affordable luxury on the shores of sunny Lake San Marcos matched with an unparalleled guest service experience. Reminiscent of a summer lake house, Lakehouse Hotel & Resort is a refreshing deviation from the commonplace and promises a tranquil escape from life’s daily stresses.
*Lakehouse Hotel and Resort offers 142 brand new spacious rooms inclusive of breathtaking views, spa like showers, Serenity memory foam beds, 100+ channels of high definition television with premium movie channels, complimentary wireless internet, a magnificent lobby area with a fireplace, library, board game; 2 spacious pool decks and hot tubs, hammocks, fire pits, 24 hour in-room dining, and many more legendary amenities.
*Guests of the resort are encouraged to enjoy the country club, St. Mark Golf, which offers a state of the art fitness center, driving range, 18 holes of championship golf and 18 holes of executive golf. The Grill restaurant offers fine dining for breakfast, Sunday brunch, lunch and dinner. Guests can also dine on the full menu in the comfort of their own room.
*Lakehouse Hotel and Resort is ideally located in the heart of San Diego’s burgeoning brew-scene and in close proximity to San Diego’s family-friendly attractions and world famous beaches. The staff of passionate hoteliers is on hand with authentic service to ensure you enjoy each moment of your stay.
The Resort’s motto is to “Relax…Escape…Play…” and our family did just that! We began our trip with a relaxing dip in one of the two swimming pools and jacuzzi’s on site. The kids loved that there were shallow areas in the pool so they could reach with their feet to stand. Around the pool are a couple fire pits and each evening at 7pm the staff puts out complimentary ingredients for SMORE’s for the kids to roast marshmellows and make a yummy treat before heading off to bed. TIP: Be sure to get there a couple minutes before 7pm (the supplies go fast).
The next day we decided to explore the Lake. Our Lakeside Room opened up with a beautiful patio facing the lake… and we had been watching all the other guests play on the different boats and water toys. We began with a powered boat ride down the Lake. The small boat fit the 5 of us and with a quick lesson from the Dock Hand, we quickly knew how to safely operate it. We trolled back along the lakes bend and narrows and admired all the beautiful waterfront homes. So nice and peaceful, we even discovered several large white swans and then a couple days later we found several black swans. They were amazing and the kids enjoyed meeting them. TIP: For .25 cents your children can purchase “SWAN FOOD” at the dock, this is so fun to feed the swan and they just loved it!
The Lake is a no contact/no-wake-lake so while there is no swimming, there is no shortage of activities. The next day we all decided to kayak. We took several kayaks out and paddled our way through the Lake. I believe I may have had it hardest since my front driver was a toddler, but the exercise was nice and I did work on my tan a bit. The kids all really enjoyed it!
We decided to order some room service (in room dining) and watch a family movie. The Grill on site prepared and delivered great meals and even brought us dessert one evening that including “hot pans of brownies ala mode” for the kids! Great portion sizes and very yummy! Plus we got to eat in our pajamas which is always a hit!
The next day we went out and explored for breakfast, and found a yummy bakery and brought some treats back to the poolside to eat and swim. The Pool also has a waitstaff that will bring you lunch and dinner poolside if you’d like. TIP: Drinks are served at the pool side bar (check on days/times) it was only open some of the days we were there. TIP: There is a small store behind the pool that has limited basics like waters, sodas and ice creams, if store isn’t open, ask front desk and they are accommodating to go in and grab anything we needed.
The Resort also has several family friendly activities. We weren’t back in time, but several days they had family friendly bingo by the pool. Family games may be checked out from the front desk (no charge). TIP: Bring some fun floaties for the kids, makes for fun in the pool with floating animals or dive rings.
The basic rooms come equipped with mini fridges which is nice to have with children to have small amounts of milk or snacks on hand. Towels are provided pool side (if you don’t see any just ask a staff member) and there is plenty of shade and lounge chairs for all.
Lastly, we completed our Spring Break with a festive Easter Brunch at “The Grill” with our extended family. The staff also provided an egg hunt for the children afterwards.
Lindsay’s Tea Party highly recommends this resort for a fun family getaway! Between the Lake activities and the two area pools, plus all the dining that can be found in San Marcos, there is no shortage of things to do, places to go, and yummy dining options. The rooms were very clean, fresh and had amazing views on the Lake. The beds were soft and we all slept well in them. The Grill is a short golf cart ride away (complimentary rides) or you can take a brisk walk over the bridge.
I’d say we completed their task of “Relax, Escape & Play”!
Cheers until our next school break! Be sure to visit The Lakehouse Hotel & Resort on FB!
